How to transform the JFK into the most resilient airport ?

Airport
The challenge

Transform New Terminal One into a resilient airport that can function off-grid during power disruptions and stabilize energy costs over the long-term.

The Solution

Integrated 11.34-megawatt microgrid comprised of :
7.66 MW rooftop solar,
3.68 MW fuel cells,
2MW/4Wh battery energy storage,
A circular waste heat to chilled water system
Consists of four power islands
The AlphaStrxure Integrate digital platform manages the microgrid performance and operations in a cyber-secure environment

The result

RESULT
Largest rooftop solar array in New York City
38% decrease in immediate greenhouse gas emissions over source energy
100% airport operations during power disruptions and the first fully resilient airport transit hub in the New York region
Compliance with ambitious New York State, City, Port Authority sustainability mandates
Long-term cost predictability

How to deliver a seamless and efficient airport journey with smart self-service technologies ?

Airport
The challenge

The challenge at JFK Terminal 1 was to modernize the passenger experience without undertaking major infrastructure works. The goal was to integrate innovative and compact solutions, able to adapt to existing counters while meeting the requirements of smooth flow, security, and multi-airline compatibility.

The Solution

- Deployment of over 20 Skycheck self-service check-in kiosks in early 2024
- Installation of Skydrop Mini baggage drop units, seamlessly integrated onto existing check-in counters
- Full CUSS (Common Use Self-Service) compatibility, enabling simplified multi-airline use
- Integration of the customizable white-label software application “Clovis,” tailored to each airline’s branding and needs

The result

A smoother, faster, and more intuitive check-in and baggage drop-off process. Passengers enjoy a modern experience, while airlines benefit from a flexible and efficient solution deployed without requiring major modifications to existing infrastructure.
